Security System Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems in both residential and commercial environments. Their work involves the deployment of advanced security technologies, which encompass CCTV cameras, alarm systems, motion detectors, and secure communication lines.

How to become a Security System Technician

  • A Cabling registration approved by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and a Security Installer’s Licence from a state–approved provider is required to work as a Security System Technician in Australia.
  • Complete a relevant qualification such as the Certificate III in Technical Security (CPP30507).
  • Attain your OHS white card.
  • Attain your Cabling registration from an ACMA approved provider.
  • Attain your Security Installer’s Licence from a state–approved provider.
  • Undergo Police Checks where necessary.
